RE: (ET) Charger repair.

Well got the cap. from the surplus web site and had 10 mins to play, so
I ripped out the old cap. from the Lester charger and put in the surplus
one. Put the meter on it and turned it on. What the heck the meter
read 37.9 volts. What is going on here, I had new diodes so I stuck
them in, still 37.9 volts. Pulled the wires on the cap and stuck on the
other surplus cap. Now it reading 37.4 volts. Wired in the original
cap and the meter went back to 39.7 volts.

It appears the surplus caps are not any good or the wrong cap for the
Lester charger. It cost more to ship them back so I guess I need to
find new ones... The golf car sites have them for $21.00 each. Is
there anything good out there cheaper?

Subject: (ET) Charger repair.

I just picked up a parts charger and want to see if it is any good. It
currently is missing the heatsink and diodes. I got a couple of diodes
coming and was wondering if I got a piece of aluminum about the same
size as the heat sink in a different charger and make my own. There is
no magic about heat sinks that I don't know about is there?

Also thanks for all the info about chargers. I went threw the archives
and have decided the other charger needs a Capacitor (putting out 39v)
so I ordered one of the 1.99 ones off the web site that was posted.

I am in the process of resurrecting a couple of old Lester chargers for
a couple of old resurrected golf cars.
