Re: (ET) external charging

Hm. I have an old Sears 15amp/100amp charger that is a brick, consists of two diodes mounted to the sides and a massive transformer with taps to a mechanical selector switch. That's isolated.

I also have a newer intelligent one, much lighter, plastic case and all that. Are those isolated? Ifso what kind of xformer are they using?

As others have said, you can use one 12-volt charger and charge 2 batteries at a time, so takes 3 times as long. All without disturbing the original wiring.

Or... you can use three 12-volt chargers at once if you happen to have such around. The one catch is the chargers must be isolated, or else you'd have to disconnect the batteries from the tractor. The good news is that most all automotive type 12-volt charger are isolated, which is pretty easy to tell as they will have a heavy transformer inside.

Good luck.

Internal charger just stopped working. What do I have to do to use a regular 12-volt external charger? Can I just do them in pairs without disconnecting them from the others and from the tractor? Or do I have to undo the connections at the terminals?
