RE: (ET) Changes at the elec-trak.org site
Title: Message
Markus,
I'm working on the FAQ issue right now. The problem is that
the current FAQ program doesn't allow incorporation of pictures - I think having
the ability of having someone update the FAQ and insert a pix is
invaluable.
I did an install of FAQ-o-Matic from SourceForge, and while
it allows you to incorporate images, the interface is pretty
crude.
Any ideas?
Don
Don,
thank
you very much for your efforts and for keeping the elec-trak.org site up and
running. I
know
about 1and1 and it can be a real struggle.
In any
case would you like to incorporate the information from my website
capturing mailing list
posts
on how to care for our tractors. It could go into your FAQ section.
Also if you have a
mysql
backend now we could put all this information into the database organized
by key words
and
easily searchable. Let me know if you'd like to work on this with
me.
Markus
After fighting a
losing battle with the 1and1.net hosting folks, I've bitten the bullet and
moved elec-trak.org to a new site.
If you surf to www.elec-trak.org, you'll automatically be
referred to www.elec-trak.com. As soon
as the DNS updates, either URL will go to the same spot without any
referral.
My thanks go out
to the fine staff at www.hostrocket.com who cut me a deal on
hosting without breaking my bank. The new site is MUCH faster, now has 1GB of
disk space, and full MySQL support. As a perk, if you know anyone who wants to
start a WWW site, and if they sign up with hostrocket.com, they can "give"
elec-trak.com another year of free hosting by simply submitting a tech ticket
saying www.elec-trak.com referred
them.
At this point
(it's 12:30 AM here), I think everthing's working on the site. I have a big
folder full of updates and will be posting them up shortly. Let me know if you
find a bad link.
Finally, sorry
for the problems over the past keeping the site updated. My former employer
was simply working my butt off, so I fired them. Now life is much better and I
have more time. And in case you were wondering, my restored E15 is still
running perfectly... no problems at all in the past 3
years.
My next electric
will be my new Toyota Prius (if it ever shows up)... been on order 8 months
and counting....
