John, I have rough areas too, and noticed the same thing.  I also have the
pot that AllTrax sells.  A stronger throttle return spring might help some.
The real answer is the Cruise Control circuit.  You take your foot off the
foot throttle and switch to the dash mounted pot, and set your speed there.
You can relax your foot and the speed doesn't change with bumps, and you 
can
still adjust your speed as needed.  To trim around and under trees & bushes
just set the dash pot on a slow speed, then use the forward/reverse switch
and steer.  I think I do about 60 to 70% of my lawn on Cruise.  This type 
of
Cruise is better then E.T.'s original one speed Cruise because you can set
the speed for whatever job you are doing.  I have my foot throttle return
spring set just strong enough to keep the pedal form bouncing and shutting
off the Cruise.  It is still light enough that the foot throttle moves 
easy.
