 Yes it is optional per his installation instructions.  I left mine in
buthaven't finished my conversion yet either.  what did y'all others do???

 Hi Steve & others who have done or plan to convert to Alltrax, Steve kinda
implies the main disconnect is no longer needed. Is that intentional? 
(relay
are more obviously not needed - but main disconnect was more a safety
feature than speed or direction control).
