RE: (ET) E-12M and obstacles

There are at least 3 front decks, probably more.  MOST but NOT ALL have a 
front center roller for uneven ground; some of the newer ones did not.  It 
isn't adjustable, but it does help on rough ground.  Biggest 
problem on rough ground is overstressing the right side caster.  That side 
is weak because of the side 
discharge chute; even if it is blocked for rear discharge or the side 
chute is mounted.  One good idea is 
the angle iron someone welded from caster block to the back roller mount; 
mine angel is bolted.  It is bad 
deal to have the right front caster drop in a hole at 3 MPH and have the 
deck suddenly bend as you hear the 
blade hitting the front of the deck.  Lots of bent armatures out there... 
but they too can be fixed.

My e12m has the same tires as the e-20.  I agree with others on the mid
mount deck does hang low and could hang you up if it gets uneven.  I would
think the front mount would be the way to go.

We're eyeing that E-12M on Ebay.  One of our concerns is mowing trails;
the ground can get rather rough with a number of gullies to cross and our
E-15's front-mount mower can't handle it. I'm thinking that the E-12M,
with its mid-mount mower, could handle this stuff better.  One concern,
tho, is the size of the wheels.  Are the E-12's wheels the same size as
the E-15's, or smaller?  Any comments on how well an E-12M handles
difficult terrain?
