RE: (ET) Stick shift lever

Maybe the easiest solution is not to deal with the old transaxle at all.
If "The lever on the 'new' transaxle was busted off right at the
tranny", presumably it's busted just outside the trans?  (Hmmm, how did
it break?  Do you know the 'new' trans is good?)  You don't need much of
the good lever to weld a piece of steel rod to.  Is it a pain to get the
lever out?  Are there any permanently attached plastic pieces that would
be hurt by the weld heat?
