A rotary inverter (in this case) is a 36VDC motor which is run by the
tractor. The motor is directly coupled to a 110VAC generator.
You get perfect sinusoidal power, vs. the psuedo-simulated(modified
sine wave) power from a solid-state inverter. Simple, relatively easy
to repair if you are living with a soldering iron and a roll of magnet
wire, and civilization is gone.
Disadvantage: brushes, bearings, armatures wear out.
