(ET) batteries

Bought two (all they had) new 12 v batts yesterday - 180 amp hour, it 
says - type 27.

exercised them a bit on the lawn, then hooked up the cahrger, the new 
ones were reading 14.5 volts, the old one 16.5 volts, any thoughts ?  
Currently have the oldie on a 12 volt trickle charger but it only does 
about 3 amps to see if it will get healthier.  probably smart to get a 
third new one when the store gets some in.
