Re: (ET) EGT120 questions

In addition, I have noticed that even though my motors were passing the "slow spin" test, as soon as I tried to spin them by hand faster (totally disconnected) I could feel some serious resistance.

Thus I think my problem might ultimately be bearings that are bad at the bottom of the motor. Any ideas on how to get the darn blade collars off? I think I wrecked my 4 inch pulley puller.

The tractor controls will short out the mower deck motors when turned off as a safety so the blades stop spinning quickly. This means that in order to do this free-spin test, the mower cord must be unplugged from the tractor (also good insurance for keeping your fingers).

Or if not used much, the motors may be rusted up and need new bearings?

Fair enough. I tried (vigorously) spinning a couple of the blades - nothing happened. I guess if they aren't spinning freely enough, that means they'll draw too much juice when powered up. So what is needed? Lubrication? Both decks look like they have had very little use - the original paint is in good condition and is even present on the underside.

All three are connected together. If all the bearings etc are good,
when you spin one it acts as a generator that powers the other two.
