(ET) short bio and question

I have an E12 in Rockville Md
somewhat corroded around bottom of back battery box
i have 6 T105's (new)
I have a question about front mower deck
how necessary are the 2 big springs? I have the bars
that come fom the sides of the mower to the sides of
the frame and the little strap that hooks to the
(non-working) lift motor) (fuse?)
I didn't ge any springs and think they may be
necessary since i stall when mowing going up a slight
grade but can go backwards.
