Not that it isn't already too late, but maybe recent laws will force small engine mfgs to adopt fuel injection systems and liquid cooling to clean them up a bit. This might also lead to more interest in hybrid electrics for traction applications. Plenty of spare Y2K generators lying around that could be applied to our purposes.

At that rate is it better run the gas hog, or the fuel stingy Elec-Trak ?

  If that was available 30 years ago, maybe they would still be building

them today !   Look at electric cars ---- Hybrids are the answer!  And they are in demand !
