Ray, the probabilities are good that the capacitor on the power supply is bad, that is the usual cause. You can check it with an ohmmeter easily. A warning, don't try to check it when the supply is turned on, that's dangerous. Disconnect the capacitor from the transformer, then when you put the meter across the leads, the needle should "jump" and then drop back to an "open" (very high resistance) indication, no "jump" is open , a low reading is shorted (bad).
