RE: (ET) Steering gear skips. Fixable?
I've never figured out why I can turn much sharper to the left than the
right. I have looked at the gear and shims, but that's not a problem.
Perhaps I need to take the spindles apart too.

Hm. My thoughts:
My Elec-trak was also skipping on the crown gear and I thought that
adjusting it would fix the problem. It sort of did, but the thing was still
*very* tough to steer. So I put it up on racks and found that one of the
spindles was totally galled in the axle. These things need to be lubricated
with a grease gun and I had neglected this.
Bad. Replaced the whole axle. Tractor now steers perfectly.
Moral: If it's tough to steer there is probably a reason. Check into it.
