(ET) E15 wiring question



I got an E15 recently thanks to Keith Stieg, who found and retrieved it
from Wisconsin. Now I'm working on bringing it back to life. I replaced
a few parts from Bill, then on opening the lower dash cover I found
that the 1A contactor was completely missing. Keith had a spare, so
after a weeks delay I'm trying to decipher the service manual and
connect it up.

I think I have it mostly connected ok, but there are more wires than I
expected (they were taped up before I started). I have the large cables
connected to terminals 6 and 7, and the smaller ones to 36 and 13, but
then there are two "extra" small gauge wires (which are cable tied with
the bundle going to the ammeter shunt, rather than the bundle to the
contactors). One is labelled 6, so I suppose it is meant to go the the
large terminal 6 on the contactor. The other no longer has a legible
label, but perhaps it also goes to 6? 

I also installed the batteries today; the lift works at least! Not
getting anything out of the drive motor though. The seat switch, key
and power disconnect are all ok, but I don't get any activity from
moving the speed control - no relays clicking or anything. Any obvious
first places to look? Maybe related to the one still-disconnected
mystery wire above?
