Hi Joe,
The 4QD controllers do four quadrant regen braking. I used a 300-amp /36
volt 4QD on my rebuilt E20. For field weakening you can leave the FW
circuit just as it. I choose to take the FW circuit out the
microswitch -controlled speed controller and use a separate manually
operated rotary switch for FW; that way I get 8 speeds (in any chosen speed
range) and I use the rotary switch to select my speed range (level of FW).
This gives me very fine speed control with a total of 32 speeds in either
range of the transaxle.
The 4QD has adjustable acceleration / deceleration ramps and is fully
protected from being damage by full forward to reverse shifting without
full
stopping between directions.
Sincerely,
Steve Bell
