Steve, I replaced my wooden rollers this year
also. The old set up used three wooden rollers separated with rubber tubing. I
replaced them with five rubber rollers. Bill said some people like the rubber ones
some do not. I went with the rubber as they were a few dollars cheaper. I also put
heat shrink tubing on the rod as per Bill suggestion and then put five rollers
on using SS washers as spacers. To make a long story short, this did not
work well. The heat shrink did not
hold up. I removed the shrink tubing and went back to three rubber rollers. I used PVC pipe and SS
washers as spacers. The problem was high rolling resistance and the deck did
not want to turn. This is a front mount deck. The deck works much better now. Dwight -----Original Message----- Hi ET folks, I recently replaced the wooden
rollers on the rear of my E-15 front mounted mower deck, and they don't roll
well. The old ones did roll well. I saw in a recent post a trick,
supposedly recommended by Bill Gunn, to allow the rollers to turn more
freely. I just can't remember what that technique was. Can someone post what that technique
was so that I can use it before my rollers are worn all on one side? Steve Naugler |
