If you are using the lift springs, 3-batteries (18V nominal) should lift 
it fine.  Of course, 3 charged batteries should be putting out 19.5 to 
21V... down at 18V and it won't lift well.  You can modify the attachment 
point and double up the strap like one does for the blower and tiller just 
like a block and tackle.  You will have to make a pulley at the mower, but 
then you can lift it somewhat better.

Is the front mower lift motor the same as a GM power window (12 volt)motor?
I have mine wired to pull 24 volts instead of 18 volts and it still won't
lift the mower all the way.
Any suggestions?
