Re: (ET) motor bearings and brushes



Wow, Thanks Steve, just what I was looking for. I had measured the 
bearings,
but assumed inches (I mean we're talking GE in the early 70's) and was
surprised at the 'odd' sizes used - never even thought they might be 
metric!
I'll submit this to the files area, with thanks to you, if you don't mind.

I figured the brushes might not be so standard - mine look ok, but, never
having seen a new one, didn't know how worn they were. I did find something
in the archives about that; I need to re-find it now and I'll add that to
the bearing info.

Next stop, McMaster-Carr! BTW - as mentioned by others, they are a geat
resource. Lots of good stuff, in stock , usually 1 day delivery at standard
ground prices. They must  have a deal with UPS. Their catalog also explains
a lot of stuff - like what different stainless alloys are used for. (Usual
disclaimers here - like I have no interest in the company and it's not my
fault if your stuff takes two days to get!)
