My thanks to all who replied about my trouble three
weeks ago with my two first forward speeds. (See description below.) I
didn't do any diagnosing because it.... "fixed itself." Naturally, I know that
since electromechanical systems heal themselves all the time, I won't have to
keep your good suggestions handy. ;-)
But seriously, it ran like a champ to blast through
the last Boston "Chowdah" we got dumped with... wet stuff.
Two notes on keeping the chute from clogging... (I
forgot who asked, but two did)
1- I rub a cake of paraffin wax in the chute from
time to time, just to keep the surface rust from being a sticking site for cold
but wet snow
2- having a few seconds of serious current
available to push out a nearly clogged mass is handy; that's where the second
set of six batts comes in. They're heavy and they can be ol' beaters, but they
help. See also http://www.maxmatic.com/electrak.htm
Best to all

Hey team,
/smaller>/fontfamily> my hard-workin' E20 came a-cropper today. Symptoms... - reverse is fine, behaves as normal - forward though, does these: - on the first "click" (as you push the lever from off) the motor doesn't turn, but lots of current is drawn (in the yellow range on the "power use" meter) - on the second click, same behavior, roughly the same current - on the third click, there's a short delay (<1 sec) and the motor takes off (and current draw goes into the red) /smaller>/fontfamily> So I surmise that the control for either the field or armature winding is bad. Sane? /smaller>/fontfamily> Thus... - I wonder if you agree with my thinking so far - and what I should do next! |
