Did you check (1) the foot brake switch and (2) the seat disconnect
switch? I have seen similar with a bad foot brake switch. Next time it
happens, see if the lift still works, with either 1 or 2 above, the lift
will still work (which is NOT true of the main disconnect...).

Yesterday, as my wife was mowing with the ET, there were often times when
the tractor would just stop dead, as if the disconnect power was engaged.
Both gauges showed what happens when one engages the power disconnect
lever.
So, many times after futzing with the range selector and jiggling wires
(and there are MANY wires) behind the front panal, then both gauges would
start to register once again, and she can get going for a little while.
She
told me that often, when she hit a bump, it would do that. I tried
checking
everthing: connections, wires, etc. I seem to think that there's a
corrosion
going on or a loss wire, but couldn't find any, except, when going among
the
wires, I noticed one of the wires connected to the speed control
underneath
was broken off. I used a jumper wire to connect it to where I thought it
was broken off. I didn't notice any appreciable change. The power pack
was
very much charged when we started. Would appreciate info on why it totally
shuts down. I think I can resoldier the speed control wire..
