+/- .1V is good balance., and 6.5 x 6 is indeed 39V.
HOWEVER, my fuel meter would be at 45+ V if it were '1/8" into the white'.
I suspect (as I mentioned in my last post...) our fuel meter's don't
agree. Now, I ALSO have never got anything like good performance at 39V
charge. I couldn't mow for even 2 hours at this level. Now, if (and
since you measure all 6 @ 6.5V so I don't see how this could be...) you
measured 5 batteries and got 39.2, 6 would measure out at 47.04V, just
about where I stop charging. BTW, the only reason I ever charge above 45V
is to equalize the batteries.

Thanks to all for your quick response to my voltage measurement question.
Perhaps I should make sure I have clarified the problem.
1. The highest voltage I have EVER read is 39.2v
2. This is with the charger charging.
3. The power disconnect is on.
4. The needle is into the white about 1/8 inch.
5. This is with a NEW battery pack.
6. I am measuring from the positive terminal of the front battery
closest to the "firewall" and the negative terminal of the right
rear
battery.
7. Each indivudal battery measures 6.5 +/- .1v
Am I measuring at the right place? And yes the batteries are gassing.
Marty
