the short answer is no. you can do it i think, if you only give it juice
for
a second, so the motor dosen't overrev. it needs the small wires for a
field
to control speed. you can also do it at less than the rated voltage just
as
a test, and only for short spurt. perhaps the more electrically inclined
will supply details.
