(ET) Regarding the lift motor on an E14

 - Greetings -

One has discovered that what is good for the General may not be good for

the whole country. But there may be a way to use the GM windowlift if
you are willing to do a wiring change (minor and reversible).

The negative side of the battery bank (on the E15, anyway) goes to ground
thru the charging circuit breaker to a stud in the battery charger, wires
#4 and #30. Let that be ground for the lift motor also. Disconnect the
hot side of the Lift Motor Fuse from the other sources and connect blue
wire #51 to the fuse hot side. Now the fuse hot side will be at 18 VDC
instead of 36 VDC. The down side of this is that the lights will run off
two of the three batteries supplying the lift motor. This does not seem
like a situation that will cause a serious unbalance between batteries.

An alternative is to mount the lift motor with insulated spacers and bolts.
Be sure that nothing gets between the lift motor housing and the tractor
frame or other metal part.

Hope this helps.
