Hello all,
I recently managed to blow a diode in the field circuit of my E-16. It
physically blew up, complete with sparks and smoke! Fortunately, it was
the one which conducts for all reverse speeds. Thus I still have all
foward speeds, but whenever I attempt to run in reverse, a huge current
flows in the amature/series field circuit, and there is insufficient
torque to turn the motor.
I tried to read the part number on the matching "forward" diode (since
there wasn't much left of the one that exploded), and it looked like
IR3051C, which suggests an International Rectifier part, but I couldn't
find a cross for this in my NTE book, or online at IR's website. Perhaps
I read it wrong. There are some similar numbers, like 1N3051x, but they
cross to 1 watt devices, and the diodes on the tractor have 5 watt style
packages and lead diameters.
Does anyone have a parts list which might give the OEM part number for
this? I don't have my schematic available right now, but I think that
this diode is designated CR2 or CR3, and it should be the same for both
the E15 and E16 models (and probably E20, too).
Thanks for any help you can provide. Sorry, I can't provide the full
model number of my tractor at the moment, but I will if it is necessary.
