Re: (ET) Electronics Lesson

Hi Dennis,

The coil is the actuator electromagnet that pulls in the solenoid or
relay or contactor. Relays tend to be small control oriented size while
contactors are larger current carrying babies used to handle motor
currents while being controlled themselves by a relatively small switch
such as the ones on the dash or in the throttle pedal, etc.

The function of the following relays/coils/solenoids off my schematic ?

PTO? Power take off
F ??? Forward
R ??? Reverse
1A ?Bypasses armature resistor R1 (more
2A ? dido R2
3A ? dido R3

The following 4 have (RELAY) printed above them on the schematic.

RTN ? Return to neutral
2AH - sorry can?t see it!
RTN-R dido - but all the RTN?s are safety related that require you to
return the throttle to ?off? (neutral) in order to resume.
CC ? Cruise control
FWís ? all are motor field weakening relays. (The weaker field gives
less power but more speed)

Don?t be intimidated by any of this. It is just a language and a simple
one to learn. I am self taught starting about age 12. It is really fun.
The more you study the ?schematics? the more sense it will make. Just
like learning to read road maps. Read all the ?legends? at the bottom of
the pages as well.

Hope this helps you get started. You?ll probably get help from lots of
us.
