This in response to Monty McGraw's question about brakes:
I've had and E-15 for about 20 years. When I first got it I was very very
unhappy with the brakes, especially as I live in a very hilly section.
So, following the lead of a friend, I removed the disk brake and replaced
it with a drum setup I got at Bailey's (I think). I used the same linkage
but replaced the foot pedal with a lever I scavenged from an old road
grader, since it required a 'pull' rather than a 'push'. It has worked
fine all these years. But you do have to get used to using a hand brake.
I don't have time now to give more detail as we're leaving for a 10-day
vacation, but I'll be glad to go into it more when I get back if anyone is
interested.
