Fwd: Reciprocity Collaborative, well, collaboration!

Are people available for two consecutive Saturdays? One would be at practice (or shortly before), the second would be at 7a. (I’m sadly gone for a bunch of these, but maybe we can get nine without me…)

Please let me know if you are interested in this project, which Saturdays you are available for.

Thanks,
Ricky

Hey Ricky,

We got the green light! We are SO. EXCITED.

Would you and the team be free for two consecutive Saturdays coming up? The first Saturday we would ideally meet before your practice, and the next week we would meet at 7am to film. Because of the massive cruise ship tour groups etc, we only have full access of the sanctuary before opening hours- thus, the early bird call. We know this is brutal, but we think the magic of what this collaboration can be will be worth it.
. . . we also promise to bring coffee. 😬

How about any 2 of these Saturdays?

Additionally, we'd like to bring in a professional sound artist in to record one of your practices to capture the method we ultimately want to physicalize in the film, but also whatever it is you guys are working on that day. Is that cool?

Feel free to text or call me if that's quicker - 224.714.7517, and we can't wait to get started!

All the best,

Jenna + Sue

Hey Ricky,

We had a really great meeting with Catherine and Erin on Tuesday - we're still waiting on a confirmation from Steve and the Board, but it's looking like a much greener light than it was last month!

While we await the final 'go' I wanted to throw some possibilities for play/rehearsal and for filming to you and the group. We would ideally like at least 8 people to match the 8 bells, and potentially someone to help guide/coach/call from the outside.

What do you think about a 2 hour rehearsal on a day either before or after a practice session?
As for filming, we have been told that we cannot film during business hours and are thus proposing a weekend, probably Saturday as to not interfere with Sunday service preparations, to film from 7-9a.

Let me know what you and crew think - can't wait to get together in the space!

All the best,

Jenna + Sue

Thanks for helping to problem solve!  Good to know that's potentially a scheduling option for you, and we really, really hope it works out with you guys.

We don't love the lighting conditions for the church at night on film, but trying not to count out anything at this point before speaking to Catherine and Steve. To be continued!

Thanks! One other possibility, if no weekend day is possible, might be an evening? It would heavily depend on the evening, but if nothing can be done weekendwise?

Hi Ricky,

Thank you for following up with us - we have not forgotten about you guys. In fact, bringing y'all in remains one of our biggest excitements for this fall!

Unfortunately, we've hit some roadblocks with the administration regarding timing with the heavy flow of tourism this fall. I have hesitated to reach back out to you until we had more answers, but now is as good of a time as ever to say we're meeting in person with Catherine and Steven next Tuesday the 3rd, and hope to report back with an update on a possible weekend filming opportunity shortly thereafter.

To be continued - thank you for your continued commitment to our project at Old North!

All the best,

Jenna + Sue

Hi! I haven’t heard from you in a while — did you receive my earlier response?

Thanks,

One of our prompts that we're interested in capturing is something we call a 'Pew Slide', and we're intrigued to see overlapping heads in one aisle of box pews from the perspective of the back of the sanctuary. An example can be seen here, and a solo version here.

We'd instead like to directly correlate it with a/some methods (as there are 8 regular sized box pews per aisle!), using slight physical variations of sliding to correlate with the bells ringing. Ideally, we would edit the video so the pew slide would be a physical representation of the method as you're hearing it.
