RE: Ringing for a wedding on Friday, June 15
If it helps ..... I have almost all the emails for Boston ringing ..even
the
mundane ones :-)

meeting of the MIT Guild of Bellringers
...
Sidetracked to a wedding discussion:
- Weddings
--> What DO we actually charge? ($250, but check with the church)
--> Problems getting people to ring for weddings; possibly pay a little bit
of
the fee to make it more worth someone's while? Advent gives $25/ringer.
--> Better publicize ringing for weddings so more people know (and will
then
pay
the fee) but this makes the shortage of people will to ring for weddings
even
worse.

RECORD OF MEETING OF ADVENT GUILD OF BELL RINGERS 11/04/04
----------------------------------------------------------
The Guild decided
...
2) We will raise wedding ringing fees to $250 for six bells. One hundred
dollars of the fee goes to the Guild. Each wedding ringer will receive $25
for their participation. The Guild is grateful for any rebates of that fee
to the Guild, but each ringer should feel absolutely entitled to their
share
of the payment for this service. The idea here is that this $25 fee will
increase the number of ringers willing to participate.

Perhaps this might also make it into the MIT rules - if they allow it?
Kerry
who might manage to test his shoulder out someday soon!!!

Subject: Ringing for a wedding on Friday, June 15
Hello, all -
I've been asked to find ringers for a wedding taking place on Friday,
June 15th at 6pm. This is way, way in the future; however, if it sounds
like something you *might* be free for and would be interested in doing,
please let me know. (Also, if anyone knows if we generally ask for
payment for this sort of thing, please let me know that too.)
Thanks,
Mish Madsen
