[SOS-Boston] Meeting tonight, and "Beautiful Boy" author on campus

Hi everyone,

Meeting tonight at 7:00, I hope some people can make it.

Also, a few weeks ago I told you that David Sheff, author of "Beautiful Boy", is coming to campus.  That lecture is now scheduled for this Thursday at 7:00 pm.  Let me know if you'd like to go, I can help with logistics.  Here's the blurb on him and the (free) event:

"David Sheff, author of Beautiful Boy, will address the 112th entering class at 7pm at Matthew’s Arena on Thursday September 10. He will give a dynamic talk about his struggle to help his son overcome addiction. The University community is also welcome to attend this event.

Recently named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People, Sheff’s work
Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction is the story of his harrowing struggle to help his son Nic overcome his methamphetamine addiction. There have been many books about addiction, but few from the father’s and family’s point of view.

Sheff's books include Game over, China Dawn, and All We Are Saying. His many articles and interviews have appeared in the New York Times, Rolling Stone, Wired, Fortune and elsewhere. His piece for the New York Times Magazine, "My Addicted Son," won an award from the American Psychological Association for "Outstanding Contributions to Advancing the Understanding of Addiction."

Finally (for now, ha), nobody has taken me up on the Dr. Drew event....so, I still have a ticket if anyone is interested.  That event is this Friday night.  Let me know if you'd like more details.
