[SOS-Boston] Goings-on in September and an RFP

Hi folks,

Just an update on things that'll be happening in September, and a RFP (Request for Participation).

First, I'm working with someone at Northeastern to get a larger room and do some marketing to have a screening of the HBO series on addiction.  We tentatively have that scheduled for Tuesday Sept 29 at the regular meeting time (7:00 pm).  I'm hoping that'll get people out to Northeastern and they can 'participate' passively in this screening.  I watched the series, it's pretty good, so I'm pretty confident you'll get something out of it.

Second, the other thing going on is that the office that educates students on campus about AOD issues, the Office of  Prevention and Education at Northeastern (OPEN), is sponsoring a lecture by Dr. Drew.  Here's the blurb on their Facebook page:

The lecture/event is Friday Sept 11th, from 7:30-10:00 pm, at the big auditorium at Northeastern.  They expect a big turnout for this, so I can only buy 2 tickets.  I'm going...if anyone wants to go, let me know...I'll give the other ticket to the first responder.

Finally, the RFP...please participate!  If you've been thinking about coming to a meeting, or have come to a meeting and thought you might be interested in making it more regularly, please make the effort to get on out.  I've had a few people to meetings, and we've had good conversations, but in order for it to work, we need more participation!  C'mon people, make it happen!

I'm going to step up my marketing efforts this month...maybe make some visits to rehab/detox centers, reach out to more addiction professionals, etc.
