Could she come to Eric's party the night before? That's before the
hunt...and a relaxed atmosphere. If this is true (I'm assuming it is), then a pre-Hunt meetup might not be essential. But it would be nice if we could do it.Actually, I don't think this would be a good idea. Pre-Hunt time on Friday is usually spent setting up the computer network in our headquarters and socializing with old and new members of our teams and other teams. Both of these are important activities that can only reasonably be done at that time. My suggestion is that Ms. Pollak come to MIT around 11:00 or 11:30 and hang out with us (and all the other teams) in the lobby of Building 7. Then, at noon, she can watch with us the usually ornate introduction to Hunt given by the Hunt Masters to all the teams. Afterwards, our team will repair to our headquarters for introductions and general organizational stuff. This usually lasts 30 to 60 minutes. Ms. Pollak is welcome to watch this, or to stay behind and see if she can get any time with the Hunt Masters (who will also be very busy, just as the Hunt begins). At this point, which I estimate to be between 1:30 and 2:30, things should calm down a bit in our headquarters, and it would be possible for Ms. Pollak to take volunteers from our team, one at a time, to some nearby classroom for an interview. I would strongly prefer that Ms. Pollak *not* do anything that involves taking multiple team members (at the same time) away from the team. The Hunt weekend comes but once a year, and it's a time for socializing and competition. (There are a fair number of folks on our team who would like to try to win this year, in a fun way, of course.) Media attention is OK, so long as it's in the background and not disruptive. It should not become the main show. -- Eric _______________________________________________ Palindrome mailing list Palindrome cosmos phy tufts edu https://cosmos.phy.tufts.edu/mailman/listinfo/palindrome |
