[Palindrome] Athena Explanation
Athena is the MIT campus-wide computer thingie. (Debby can probably
explain this a tad more precisely.) An "Athena cluster" is a room on
campus that's filled with computers that anyone can use. Well,
anyone who knows the password to the door lock and who has an Athena account.
Which reminds me: Please e-mail me immediately with the following
information:
Who has an MIT Athena account that they can use themselves
during the hunt?
Who has an Athena account they are willing to let others use
under supervision during the hunt?
Who has an Athena account whose password they are willing to
share and allow others to use unsupervised during the Hunt?
We'll have our own computers in our Hunt headquarters, but at times
there may be more demand than supply, so you may want to go to an
Athena cluster. Also, Athena-cluster computers usually have *big*
screens, which can be useful, or even necessary if you're past a certain age.
In order to support security at MIT, so they can keep providing such
a wonderful public asset, I will not be giving out the Athena cluster
password via e-mail to this list. If during the Hunt you want to use
an Athena cluster, just ask me or Debby or any MIT student on our
team, or a stranger in the halls, and you'll get the password. Or
you can just knock on the Athena cluster door and someone will
usually let you in.
