[Palindrome] Parking and Rooms

To reiterate what Debby said, the East Lot is a fine place to park. Or one of several other MIT lots.

MIT doesn't enforce parking, except 8am to 3pm weekdays. I've parked in those lots on weekends and evenings many, many times over the past 15 years, and have never had a problem.

In addition, I'm not convinced they enforce parking during IAP. Drive drive by the lot -- If there is not attendant on duty, you're good to park -- the only enforcement is stopping you from entering. If you get in, you're good. If there is a parking attendant, you might wish to talk your way in ("I'm here for the MIT Mystery Hunt"). If that doesn't work not, there is a bunch of on-street parking on Vassar and Memorial Drive. Actually, Memorial Drive in front of Killian Courtyard is likely the closest driving place to our rooms this year.

In other news, I went by the rooms last night (4-261 and 4-257). I thought there was talk in the email chatter of a connecting door with another team. However, there are NO connecting doors between any of the rooms -- there appears to have perhaps been construction. My biggest concern is that the entrance between our two rooms is pretty far away, so security of valuable in the 'sleep' room is a concern.

If you are driving in Friday evening, you have a number of parking
options. There is on-street parking all around MIT, and after 2:30 or
3pm (I forget which), the MIT parking attendants go home, and no one
really checks the lots to see if you have a parking sticker. (This is
not to say that you still couldn't get a ticket in one of these lots,
but the odds are very much against it.)

The closest lot to Building 4 is probably the East Lot
(http://whereis.mit.edu/map-jpg?selection=P9&Parking=go). The Hayward
Street Lot by the Medical Center and Media Lab
(http://whereis.mit.edu/map-jpg?selection=P5&Parking=go) is probably
your next best choice, since I am pretty sure that the Kresge Lot is
gated now at all times. There is also a pay lot at the corner of Ames
and Main Street, next to Legal Seafoods.

Enjoy the East Lot while you can. I think MIT is planning to use that
space for yet another building in a couple of years.

I feel that I have only a rudimentary smattering
of information, and most of it's wasted on words
like "rudimentary" and "smattering."
