Sorry this has taken so long. Too many other things going on these
days...
Let's see how much I can remember - not an easy task :)
Who was there (I think):
Aaron F, Aaron M, Alec, Arlene, Ben, Bill, Brian K, Bruce R, Bruce S,
Caroline, Catherine, Cheryl, Chris (Kris?) L, Cindy, Cori, Craig, Dave M,
Doug H, Doug O, Frank, Geoff, Greg L, Jennifer, Jeremy, Jerry, Joe D, Joe R,
John, Jon, Karl, Kathy, Kieron, Kim, Kimberly, Lev, Lynda, Marc M, Mark K, Mike
C, Nate, Pete, Phil, Rob, Robin, Sean, Seth, Sue, Vlad and me. My
apologies if I missed anyone.
Overall, a slightly smaller crowd than usual due to scheduling conflicts,
but not a bad turnout.
Special thanks to Jerry for the home-made House on the Hill scenarios (I
will be posting them to Boardgamegeek one of these days), Phil for the poker
chips, Seth for setting up the giant Halloween display, Craig and Cori for the
deli platters, and everyone else who brought games and food.
Congratulations to Mark K for winning the poker tournament. The
win paid for his "Evil Dead:The Musical" ticket. I had the misfortune
of being one of 3 (!) players knocked out on the same hand by Phil, who managed
to take most of my chips over the course of 3 hands, only to lose them all to
Jeremy, who proceeded to blow a large heads-up lead to Mark.
Best costume honors went to Jerry for his "Space Ghost", though I
still think he looked like a giant sperm. Thanks to those who were willing to
humiliate themselves and dress up.
The movie highlight had to be the direct to DVD ripoff, "Snakes on a Train"
(or more accurately "Train in a Snake" - yeah that's right!) It was so good,
Lynda sat through it twice.
As usual, there were plenty of games played (I know I was doing something
until 5:00 am each night, but much of what happened has already left my brain).
Next time I'll try to write down some more details, and report them in a more
timely manner.
I would have done this wrap-up last weekend but I was kind of busy with our
trip to NYC Saturday for "Evil Dead:The Musical" (Two severed thumbs
way up) and Spooky World on Sunday (2 thumbs way down - it was a rerun of the
big pumpkinfest that ran last year at the Bayside Expo, but without the
pumpkins!)
I highly recommend "Evil Dead". It incorporates singing, lots of bad puns,
tons of body parts and blood (they really made sure that the people sitting in
the "splatter seats" got their money's worth!), and possessed singing
animals (you'll never look at the Bugaboo Creek moose the same way again). I
don't know if this will ever get to the Boston area (it's off-Broadway and what
we saw was still a preview), but it's definitely worth a trip to NY.
Anyway, I hope everyone had a great time. Next party should be in
February.
