[Palindrome] Mystery Hunt Myscellanea

Here are a bunch of random, disconnected thoughts I've had, in no particular order:

1. I'm going to make a run to Staples sometime before I come up for the Hunt. I intend to buy a large binder and some sheet protectors. I believe we have a decent amount of paper left from last year. If there is anything in particular that you would like me to buy and
bring, let me know, and I'll see if anyone already has one.

B. I think this whole organizational thing would be a lot easier if we had some sort of online blog/wiki/bbs/whatever that we could all access. That way, we can just keep adding to the info, and it will be available as a nice starting point for next year. Actually, I believe that Last Minute put something together like this, and I'm a bit embarrassed for realizing that she was incredibly right about the utility of it. If we can get something
together soon, here are a few things we should have on the site:
one: A list of who is attending, indexed by WHEN they're arriving.
bee: A list of what people are bringing, indexed by WHAT is being brought, not by who is bringing it. This list should also include things we WANT to have brought, but which haven't been offered, yet.
gamma: The growing list of suggested team names.
vixen: Links to good online solving resources
Since it's a public resource, any other ideas can be added there.

III. I have $85 in cash left over from last year's hunt, which I will apply to costs from this year's hunt.
So we all shouldn't have to put in that much.

Cuatro: Since we have had a hard time coming up with a high-volume printer this year, I think we should consider a change in team policy. I don't think we should be printing out copies of every puzzle for every person this year. It's been nice in the past to have, but as the hunts have gotten larger and larger (and larger,) it's simply been impossible for anyone to work on all the puzzles, or even anywhere near all the puzzles. I think the best bet for us is simply to have our usual huge amount of laptop computers and to print out the puzzles as needed. Of course this does still imply that we ought to have a printer, and please don't stop looking for one, but I think we can save a lot of time, mess, and outright losing stuff if we don't have dozens
of extra copies of each puzzle.

Johnny Five: That being said, even though nobody can work on every puzzle, it IS possible for everyone to work on a single puzzle. I am almost positive that I will be able to bring the digital projector along again, and we had a great time looking at the puzzles together. I think even the little bits of collective brainstorming went a long way towards solving some of the puzzles, and I seem to recall we even managed to solve a few
puzzles very quickly by group solving.

The Joy of Six: Eric Berlin has been keeping a list of names/noms of people who are coming. Would someone volunteer to handle making nametags from that list once the list is finalized? Oh, yeah, and once the team name
is finalized as well.

7. Just 7. Would somebody PLEASE post to this list the way to get my car into campus, in detail, and get it as close to our HQ as possible in order to unload stuff from it? I usually have a lot of stuff to bring in, and I'm
really getting tired of lugging it an infinite distance down a corridor.

Ate. Dinner, that is. Could someone please make a nice big sign-up board for the Mary Chung's run on Friday night? And have the menu attached handily? And a place to put money for same? It seems we always end up rushing this on Friday night. Perhaps someone who wants a really small job could just be in charge of this. I am once again bringing
copious amounts of reheat-and-eat Italian food for Saturday.

Nein. No. More. I'm out of ideas for now, but let's make this a fun Mystery Hunt. Remember, it doesn't matter if you win or lose, as long as you find yourself staring for 10 hours at something pitifully obvious.

See you all at the Hunt!
