[Palindrome] Food (another message originally from Eric Albert)
FOOD
====
People should bring food that they like to eat, and lots of it. Rich
food is fine, but, in my experience, you should definitely balance it
with much "healthy" food. I find that fruit (especially clementines,
bananas, and apples) works very well for me: it's portable, tasty, keeps
my blood sugar level at a good place, and doesn't make my brain sleepy.
I also recommend low-fat stuff you can eat out of the box, like cereal
and Triscuits. Your diet may vary.
The MIT student center on Massachusetts Ave. has several eating places,
including a 24-hour coffeehouse, and a grocery store (LaVerde's) that
will make sandwiches for you. There is a large Star Market, open until
midnight (we think), near the University Park hotel that has
made-to-order sandwiches, sushi, and various other prepared foods. The
MIT campus is well-populated with vending machines for both snack-type
food and beverages.
It is a tradition for some members of our team to go to Mary Chung's
(Chinese) restaurant on Friday evening and bring back food for those who
want some. If the phrase "Mary Chung's" means nothing to you, then you
are required to order suan la chow show -- it's an MIT campus regulation.
Warning: DO NOT BRING ANYTHING THAT YOU DON'T ACTUALLY WANT TO EAT. At
four in the morning, you will eat it.
