Re: [Palindrome] An interested undergrad

Dear Dustin,

We'd be happy to have you on our MIT Mystery Hunt team, so long as you're
comfortable with our team philosophy, which I'll e-mail in my next two
messages.

You should know that we're one of the larger and stronger and older teams,
so most people will be older than you, and some puzzles may be solved so
quickly that you won't even get a chance to see them. (Our team has some
of the best solvers in the world.)

On the other hand, you should also know that we're a very friendly team
that focuses on having a good time rather than being super-competitive,
and other team members will be happy to get to know you, and to work with
you on puzzles. We are one of the few "open to anyone" teams, so every
year we pick up some Mystery Hunt newcomers, and they seem to have a good
time. Some of these folks play on our team for a year or two and then
leave to start their own teams; others stay with us forever, becoming
central members of the team.

Take a look at my team-philosophy messages, then let me know if you'd like
to join us. I hope you do!

Sincerely,

Eric Albert
Leader of the Palindrome team
