[Palindrome] Hunt HQ...

Hi.

It looks like we have to use this new system to reserve our headquarters.

I had talked to the the MIT Schedules office a few weeks ago. At first
they
told me that only certain people (from Kappa Sig) could reserve rooms for
the
Mystery Hunt. After I explained the situation, they said that the
Schedules
office would be handling all the Mystery Hunt room assignments all
together,
and that I should wait until they got things organized. I guess this new
system is what they were organizing.

Here are the rooms that they've made available (so far), with their
relevant
attributes:

(ARM = movable tablet armchairs, TC = movable tables and chairs)
(DROP = MITnet drop, JACK = phone jack)

ROOM SEATS DROP? JACK? FURN

4-257 35 YES NO ARM
4-261 40 YES NO TC
4-265 40 YES NO TC
8-119 30 NO YES TC
8-302 42 NO YES TC
8-306 42 NO YES TC
13-3101 26 NO YES ARM
13-4101 28 NO YES TC
13-5101 40 NO YES TC
24-110 16 NO NO TC
24-112 16 NO YES TC
24-114 16 NO YES TC
24-115 48 NO YES TC
24-307 42 YES YES TC
24-402 38 NO YES ARM
26-168 42 NO YES ARM
26-204 42 NO YES TC
26-210 42 NO NO TC
26-302 35 YES NO TC
26-310 35 YES NO TC
26-314 35 YES NO TC
26-322 35 YES NO TC
26-328 35 YES NO TC
36-372 24 NO YES ARM

For what it's worth, 26-322 and 26-328 were the headquarters for Snafu
Fans
'03 (Matrix hunt), while 8-302 and 8-306 were the auxiliary rooms for
Ycnamancy '02 (Monopoly hunt).

I'd say our best bets from this list are 4-261 and 4-265, followed by any
of
the 26-3xx rooms. 24-307 has the disadvantage that it's not next to any
other
classrooms, and it also has a woeful shortage of blackboard space.

That just about does it for our options, if we require a net drop and
movable
tables and chairs. On the other hand, all of the rooms (with the
exception of
26-328) claim to have wireless capabilities. If we can use this instead
of a
net drop, then this opens up more possibilities. (Someone who knows more
about computers would have to look into this.)

At any rate, we need to register our team before December 26, and submit
our
room preferences at that time. So we need a team name before then. I'll
start us off by suggesting "Ecroforce", a force which is applied equally
in
both directions, in accordance with Newton's Third Law of Motion.
