I wonder why you ask the moms and not the dads?  Does THAT say something
about perceived activities, limits, or roles for either gender?

We let our son wear whatever he wants around the house.  When he was 2,
he used to like to wear a leotard with a ruffled tutu, which our
daughter didn't like so much.  They both recognized it as "his", when
they wanted to dance.

But I'd probably not take him out of the house in that, just because of
the way other adults and kids would respond.  I think he would sometimes
go out in a nightgown, though.

Now that he's 3, his clothing preferences have stabilized on "boy-type"
clothing.  I don't think there's much you can do about that unless you
live in a commune.
