[Emeriti-faculty] TODAY's Colloquium of George Smith

Dear All,
I encourage, I urge everyone to attend today's colloquium by George
Smith, who is treasure to have on our campus.
We Physicists know how to do Physics without knowing the history of
Physics or even knowing the basis for the assumptions we make. George has
studied many aspects of this subject. He is not one of the numerous
philosophers of science who can write a lot and publish papers but don't
make honest contact with the reality of doing Physics. He is also an
engineer and a world renowned authority on Isaac Newton's Principia
Mathematica.

I believe that having such a more solid understanding will improve
our teaching and might have a role to play for those Physicists who are
dealing with the frontiers of fundamental Physics development.
