Dear Faculty, Students, and SPS members, I forward an invitation to a conference for all students with interest in Exploration and Development of Space. Please circulate and forward to any interested parties. Thank you! My best wishes, Marianne -------- Original Message --------
Dear Dr. Vestergaard, I am contacting you on behalf of MIT's Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) group. This spring, we plan to hold a convention for students from colleges in the northeast region. For schools with existing SEDS chapters, we hope that the conference will serve as a launching point for projects that will require collaboration between schools. For schools without SEDS chapters, we hope to inspire students to become involved in the organization and start their own chapters, or at the very least get them interested in space. Our tentative agenda includes presentations from one of MIT's science history professors; a professor from Harvard Business School; a recent MIT graduate who is now working for NASA; an astronaut who just returned from the International Space Station; astronomy professors from MIT, Harvard, and Boston University; and representatives from several space tourism companies. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2009, and should run from approximately 10:00 AM the morning until 7:00 at night. I would greatly appreciate it if you could pass this information along to any students, faculty, or departments you feel may be interested in attending this event. It will surely be one of the rare occasions students will have to interact with these high-profile people. If you have any questions about the conference, or any suggestions that could further improve the event, please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your time, and I hope to see students from Tufts at the event. -- Eric D.
