(ET) More motors!
This weekend I took a nice trip up to see Jeff A up in PA and take a
look at some of the parts and things he has. Jeff's got a bunch of neat
things, including several decks (front mounted and mid mount), including
a brand new one (which I already have a back up one in my shed, I think
they were the thicker Bill Gun models) and a bunch of parts.
I did pick up a pair of thin mower motors that both work (nice) and a
big drive motor that we thought was an E20 motor but now that I have it
home looks more like an E15 with the double pulley option (darn!).
I have wanted a spare motor for my E20, the issue is that the E15 motor
is a bit smaller (eh) but more importantly has a different field
connector and a lack of the temp circuit breaker in the motor. I should
be able to build an adapter to the D sub plug on the E20, but it would
allow me to take the E20 motor to a real motor shop and see if they can
rewind the field that is in series with the armature and seems to be
what's shorting to ground and giving me the annoying ground fault on the
E20.
It was also fun to see someone with a non-powered yard sweeper (I have a
powered one, not sure if it's better), and other interesting Elec-trak
accessories. Weird how many weight boxes were made over the decades.
