If memory serves, the lift motor was a modified window lift motor from a 
GM 
car.  

I wonder if you could adapt a window motor from a newer car.  Maybe not 
TOO 
new, though, because you wouldn't want one that insists on consulting a 
nonexistent body computer before it deigns to lift your mower or dozer 
blade.
