Way back in the early days of ownership, I successfully replaced a worn 
lower bearing in a mower motor.  The next time, I darn near broke the 
blade 
mount puling it off. 

Ever after I took my motors to a local auto electric shop for service.  I 
don't remember it being all that costly. 

It's not for everyone, but it worked for me.  They had the tools and 
experience that I didn't, and if anything had gone wrong, I'd have had 
someone else to blame. :-\
