Re: (ET) Elec-trak Digest, Vol 19, Issue 32

Oops, a typo. Should have been METI, Modern Electric Tractors Incorporated. https://www.myelec-traks.com/modern.html Unfortunately there was little interest and they never reached production.

I bought prototype #4 with 48” deck from Jerry Roads. Incredibly powerful drive. My understanding is that the drive motor is 3.5 HP vs 1.2 for an E20. I believe it!  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elec-Trak

Sorry for the confusion.

I agree, I converted my E16 to an Alltrax years ago and also have a MEDI with the GE controller. So much better than the relay nightmare. Make the switch!

Take care,

Getting started bringing an E-15 that's sat for probably 30 years. Need to replace capacitors, CRs & SCRs, plus a transistor (one legs broken off). does anyone have a parts list for card 1 that describes components so I can find replacements? Also a good wiring diagram, had some rodents chew some wires.

I believe all of that is in the Owner's manual. Download a copy from one
of the Elec-Trak sites and get rolling. I do believe though that you
should check the capacitors first: Most of them were simple delay caps
and the electrolytics were made before the garbage quality capacitors
from the 1980's hit the market. They just might be good (all caps on my
E15 board are fine enough).

The Card 1 schematic is in the Homeowners Service Manual. I have SCR's
and the various capacitors listed on my web store along with complete
new cards. Since I build those I have every component involved and could
get you whatever transistor, etc is needed.
http://freerangeelectric.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&keyword=card+1&search_in_description=1&categories_id=17&inc_subcat=1&manufacturers_id=&pfrom=&pto=&dfrom=&dto=&x=0&y=0

Also edge connector terminals (someday I'll put a picture up!):

Note that I generally don't bother to repair old cards.... at a minimum
all new capacitors as the old ones are getting dried out by now,
diagnose and repair other bad components, and more often than not there
is mechanical damage to the card along the edge connector and/or from
previous repairs.

Another potential difficulty is that at least some Card #1 were
dipped in a vat of very durable varnish or other such coating, making
it extra hard to de-solder parts that you want to replace.

Jim's new cards are a good way to go, quicker and more reliable.

(At one point Steve Shore asked me to test a batch of #1 cards and
repair the bad ones if possible.  It was a lot of work; new cards
would be much less effort!)
