Re: (ET) Leaf vacuum attachment

Compared to welding together the rusted hulk of an E15, this is a duck soup project. If the motor windings are good then it should be a pretty simple repair. With 3 of the 4 magnets intact in the housing I should be able to glue the fourth one in without much difficulty and a bearing removal set is only like $50 bucks.

I thought about buying this off Harold but it looked like a big project.

Got my rusty leaf vacuum from Harold last weekend and this weekend I set to working on it. First step was to hose down the bolts with penetrating oil because it's rather...weathered.Se <http://weathered.Se>cond step was to take the back off the motor. It's a long PM motor, probably the one used in the E10 type tractors. The bearings inside are dry as bones, but some penetrating oil got them moving. That should be enough totest.Th <http://test.Th>e motor is mounted to the tractor by a frame which goes in the stabs and also seems to connect at the hitch tongue. Looks solidenough.Ne <http://enough.Ne>xt step is removing the blower fan and getting the motor off the thing. So far I got the set screw out, I don't see another set screw in there, so it's more penetrating oil and waiting a bit to see if I can tap the motor shaft out. I'm guessing it's on with a woodruff key and the set screw holding it on.Ultimately I want to use this to vacuum leaves here. I have a big craftsman trailer, anyone know where I can get a tent assembly for it and what kind of hose is best to attach to this thing?C_______________________________________________Elec-trak mailinglistElec-trak cosmos phy.tufts.eduhtt <mailto: listElec-trak cosmos phy.tufts.eduhtt>ps://cosmos.phy.tufts.edu/mailman/listinfo/elec-trak <http://cosmos.phy.tufts.edu/mailman/listinfo/elec-trak>
