I seem to recall investigating this several years ago and deciding it 
wasn't 
worth the steep price I'd have to pay for those limited-market lamps.  

More recently, though, I've seen LED lights of various kinds advertised as 
able to use a wide voltage range.  Maybe that would be something to 
explore.
