EDIT. Install missing word.

There would not NEED to  be much in the way of poor connections to cause potential, {pun intended.} problems.

It is possible that a high coil resistance could cause that problem, but considering where it is in the circuit, current wouldn't be a problem to energize the coil. Maybe check the connections on the coil and then probe the coil for resistance without anything connected to it. Compare to another relay. Swap it out if it's too high.

One other consideration may also be your fuse block. If it has degraded enough, the controls fuse contacts nasty not be carrying enough current to cross the 2AH contacts for 3rd speed and the voltage is dropping out at the fuse just enough to not engage 2A. I replace those fuse blocks with a Littlefuse 4-station from any auto parts store. Open up the mounting holes a bit and it screws right in place.

Subject:(ET) Power Pulse Required Most of the Time

I have an E16 that requires the power pulse in order to get the higher speeds.  It works as designed mostly with a fresh charge
or very little load.  Batteries are newer (1 year old).  I replaced the contact set on the 2AH relay and verified operation of the 2A contactor.  Someone had mentioned that a high resistance in the 2AH coil circuit could cause this.  Any ideas???  Thanks!
