Re: (ET) E-20 problem

Speeds 1-4 are provided by the toaster resistor assembly up front. My guess
is something is amiss there, especially if it's been getting hot for a long
time. Large amounts of heat production are a sign of one or more failing or
failed resistor bypass contactor(s) (1A, 2A, 3A). If left uncorrected for
the long term, you can burn through the flat wire resistor elements. Check
for damage and shorts there first, then evaluate the contactors.

The "ceramic whatevers" are field resistors, and are used for speeds 5-8.
Inspect the card traces for damage also.

Subject: (ET) E-20 problem

Hi all and thanks in advance for any help.
I have a E-20 CA model that only has speed 1 and 5. When I advance the foot
switch nothing happens between or after those speeds.
At one time no speeds worked and the asbestos heat sink/toaster would get
very hot. one of the ceramic whatevers on card 4 is loose and I will
re-solder that connection. This is my wife's hauler for the vineyard and
its
getting to be that time. Any help or leads are appreciated.
